The Garden is Coming Along...

I just added a bunch of new pictures to the garden album that can be seen in the previous post or just hit the link at the bottom of any of the pictures posted here.  I'm really excited about my sunflowers!  They are starting to bloom, this is the first years I've been successful at growing them.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend!

Now to the really neat stuff...

Codeman and I did Silk Tie Dyed Eggs today!  Oh this was just way to cool.  I picked up my silk ties at my favorite thrift store for less than $.20 each.  The hardest part was taking the ties apart!  Get you eggs and lets get started...

I took tie in hand and placed a raw egg on top of it...

From Projects
wrapped the tie around it tight and then cut the excess off.  Kept it wrapped with a rubber band.
From Projects
Then another, then another until they were all wrapped.  Then I tried two different ways for the second wrap, cloth and pantyhose.  I felt the pantyhose was easier to do then tying the cloth.  Anyways you can wrap the eggs in a white cloth (thrifted pillowcase) or nylons, tie off.

From Projects

From Projects
Place in water with 1/4 cup of vinegar and boil for 20 minutes.  Let cool then unwrap!

From Projects
TADAAAA!  Aren't they total awesome!!

From Projects
Codeman's reaction...LOL!

From Projects
This was so much fun!
From Projects
Look at the texture and colors!
From Projects
Next time I'll boil the light colored ones separate from the dark.
From Projects
Wished I done this sooner...
From Projects
The red ones were paisley ties...Luv it!
From Projects
Check it out...

No mess...no fuss...

Busy little bee here!

I have been busy sewing and getting ready for Thanksgiving here.  I just got finished making 14 pairs of undies for my grand daughter, Rinny.  She loves monkeys!!  Do you know how hard it is to find t-shirts with monkeys on them?

My mom came down for the holidays, so we have been catching up and shopping (of course)!  I am working on a Fold-n-go play mat (My Little Pony) for my grand daughter's Christmas present.  I will post pics and where I got the idea from when it's done.  I got the idea to make a Dinosaur fold-n-go for my grandson.  I'm making a Batman Messenger Bag for my 12 year old for Christmas too!  Also making facial scrubs to give as gifts.  Last year I started a memorial sheet that everyone signs that comes over for dinner at my house, then I embroider everything!  I'm wrapping that up as well.  I will post pictures as I go.

We had an escaped chicken this morning!!  I wish someone had gotten my son and I chasing that thing all around the property on cam.  Now that was a funny site!  I was laughing so hard at my son I couldn't move!  We got him back into the coop after about a 30 minute chase.

I started cooking for Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday and I'll be cooking right up to Thanksgiving!  I'm tired already...LOL!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

GRRRRRRRR!!!!

I am so beyond frustrated ya'll have no idea!  I still do not have my sewing machine!!  Unbelievable!  Today it has been two weeks, so I called the store.  I got the same old song and dance..."we've told you Ms. Smith, when the part comes in we will call you!"  I told the sales person on the phone, "No Mame!  I will not wait another day!  I want my machine and a full refund!"  She asked for my number so that the manager could call me when she came in.  I asked when would that be she said about 30 minutes.

My cell rings...I answer!  It's the lovely person that I've been talking to for the past two weeks!  Susan the manager.  I told her I wanted my machine back today and she told me NO!  Excuse me?  NO?  She said that my machine was not at the store and that she might be able to get it by Wednsday of next week.  NEXT WEEK?  I don't think so!

Needless to say she told the Sheriff's Officer she would have it first thing in the morning.  Well that was at 10 am today.  At 4:55pm I get a call that her tech is taking a long weekend off and that she won't get my sewing machine until next week (she calls 5 minutes before they close).

Well I have so far put in like 50 reviews for this business (not good ones either) and contacted the BBB.  I will be at their store tomorrow morning and if my sewing machine isn't there I will be headed straight towards the Clerk of Courts office.  I'm also thinking that I could make some signs and sit outside of their store!!

Oh, btw...the name of the business is Citrus Sew & Vac located at 39 N Hwy 41, Inverness, FL.  Look em up on the net and read alllllll of the reviews, make your own choice from there!  Wish I had looked them up on the net before I took my machine there...woulda-neva-happened!!

Happy Easter!!

Check out our new lawn mowers...

From Blogger Pictures

HAHAHA!  That is Beau and Ali taking care of the over grown grass in our back yard!  I am a total believer in recycle/upcycle.  They did a very good job!  If you look way in the back you can see Carlos' latest project...relocation of the pig pen.

Pictures of my latest shopping spree...

From Blogger Pictures
I got all of these mason jars, a Downey ball and two of these giant plastic containers...all for $.25 each!  I'm thinking of using the short ones for lemon-sugar facial scrub as gifts for Christmas!  Plus...

From Blogger Pictures
These buckle clips and nylon(future backpack), elastic, fabric crayons(never tried these), old metal hoops(just because), and an Oreck clothing shaver(electric)!  Plus...

From Blogger Pictures
Two pairs of flip flops and loafers(half price).  Plus...

From Blogger Pictures
This gerogous scarf(thinking of using as a table runner), head scarf(for me) and leather purse organizer at $.25 each!  Plus...

From Blogger Pictures
Two pairs of winter slippers(half price)!!  I'm so tired of my feet freezing out here in the winter time!

Not pictured here were two pairs of golfing shorts for Carlos ($.25 each), a pair of jeans for me($.25), two pairs of pants I'm going to make into purses($.25 each), a t-shirt for Michael($.75), and various toys for the kids.  Total price you ask??  $24.12 including tax!!  It wasn't even half price day yet...I'm so proud of myself!  Go T...go T...go T...LOL!

I'm getting things ready for a ROAD TRIP tomorrow.  We are packing up the Family Circus and heading way over to the East coast of Florida, Daytona Beach!!  A wonderful 3 hour drive with Curly, Larry and Mo!  My daughter is getting married on the beach...this is going to be such an adventure!  I will take lots of pictures to post later.  I need to get some rest!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter weekend from The Family Circus!!

Sick House go away!

Whatever has been "going around" has been going around this house!  Coughing, sneezing, runny nose, congestion and more...it has been miserable.  I did find some time to wrap up a few projects and embarq on a few new ones.  Well here they are...

I finished Rinny's purse...BLING...BLING!

A t-shirt bag I made for my beautician...

think she'll like it?

I found the time to re-screen the sliding glass door and I made a spoon door handle all by my little self!  Ignore the couch on the back porch...it's on the way OUT!  Well at least it's out the door anyways...LOL!

Upcycle of a little dress I bought for Rinny...

it was too long for her so I cut off the excess and sewed it back on as a ruffle....

it was pretty easy to do and a lot of fun!

And this is my pride and joy; got the idea from here...

I found a use for that scarf and pendant I blogged about here.

This was made from a pair of pants that I paid a whole 25 cents on!  They had the cutest embordery on the pants leg, that was actually the reason I bought them (will post pictures of what I made from the legs...later).

I think I might have paid $1 for the sheet I cut up and used for the lining.  Even a sick house can't keep me from creating!  I love it!!
