Hello y'all! It's been a very long time since I've posted here, I had to take a break. But I will be in and out periodically from this day forward. Lots to catch up on but I'll do that later. I want to share some information on copyright laws for sewing patterns. There are none! Anyone that is wanting to educate themselves on this timeless question click on the link. I found very useful information there. I witnessed some bullying in a Facebook sewing group today, to which I promptly removed myself from after I said my piece of course. I was polite! Thank you to the person that shared this link in that group before removing herself...
This is just a little about adventures in sewing, creating (cooking) and life in general here on the farm. Thanks for stopping by...enjoy!!

I'm making them out of left over pieces from the Ninja Turtle sheets I used to make the messenger bag. Cool huh?
I also made some undies for Michael's birthday out of some of his t-shirt's he had out grown. Spiderman...

Oh yea...they get this from their mom! Not Meme mom but mom mom and she gets it from her dad. Not buying it huh? OK...they take after Meme! And the others...I guess they get it from me too!!
Papi and Meme staying out of range, but we were not excluded from getting wet. Mom saved 20 or so dish detergent bottles for the kids to used as water guns...and yes they worked very well!
Michael opening his present from Meme. I wrapped his gift with the funnies from the newspaper. I've been doing that for the longest time, they always know which presents are from Meme!
That's sissy helping him go thru them...
Michael kept saying, "Spiderman! Spiderman!"
And the grand finale is Michael with his Optimus Prime helmet...(click on the pic to see the video)
Meme loves you too baby...Happy Birthday!

Under Pressure!
This is a friend of mine Maria! She asked me a while back about making her a vest to go with one of her favorite skirts. So we have been discussing style and color of fabric. I purchased the Lutterloh System years ago and I've used it a few times. So I told Maria that I could make the pattern for the vest and custom fit it to her. She was very excited to hear that. At the time we discussed it she said she wasn't in a big hurry or anything. I was suppose to bring my patterns to her for her to look over and I kept forgetting them. She was in no hurry right?!
Well I finally remembered to bring them to her this past Monday. That's when she popped it on me. She handed me a bag with some fabric, thread and buttons in it. She said, "Can you make this by Thursday?" I about pee'd myself. LOL. I told her I would try my best.
So I measurement her and took everything home to get started. I made the pattern that night and had to take it to her to make sure it would fit her. So on Tuesday that's what I did and it was a perfect fit! While there she told me she'd rather have a white one instead of the green one and handed me some more material and thread. She also wants a new blazer, she showed me her old one, but said that could wait til later. I about had a heart attack until she said "could wait til later!" I told her I would do my best to make them both.
I started working on them that night. I finished the white one on Wednesday first and tried starting the second and my mother's machine started acting up. I got so frustrated that I just said enough! Thinking I was going to have to take my mom's machine in for maintenance (would be hard to explain that to her later) I decided to try cleaning it first.
This morning following the manual I did it, re-threaded it and VOLA! It was working!! I was SAVED!! 8am I was sewing my lil butt off trying to finish the second vest, by 11am I was finished. I packed up everything, including the machine, so that I could fit it exactly to her. I was at her work by 1pm and had fitted both vests by 2pm. Here they are...

She has them on over her street clothes mind you. She was very happy with them too!
I also made her a few rosettes and leaves out of some of the scraps of both colors. I gave them to her so that if she wants, she can tack them onto the vests.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!
I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend!
Now to the really neat stuff...
Codeman and I did Silk Tie Dyed Eggs today! Oh this was just way to cool. I picked up my silk ties at my favorite thrift store for less than $.20 each. The hardest part was taking the ties apart! Get you eggs and lets get started...
I took tie in hand and placed a raw egg on top of it...
wrapped the tie around it tight and then cut the excess off. Kept it wrapped with a rubber band.
Place in water with 1/4 cup of vinegar and boil for 20 minutes. Let cool then unwrap!

Then another, then another until they were all wrapped. Then I tried two different ways for the second wrap, cloth and pantyhose. I felt the pantyhose was easier to do then tying the cloth. Anyways you can wrap the eggs in a white cloth (thrifted pillowcase) or nylons, tie off.
